Just the Day to day

The weak sun was hot on Sumiko's skin as she dried off after some winter swimming. The shock to the system took some getting used to but was invigorating more than not. She indicated with her hands and the administrator waiting by the door eyes politely averted entered the center of the room and bowed politely. '33% angle', she considered internally. I must be doing all right.

"When I was swimming I saw something unusual. Our project to re-seed the oceans with fish - when is the next stage due?"

"A few more weeks Lady Kasanoki."

"Good, send a message to the MOH ambassador. Allowing it goes well we will want to be prepared to start purchases for the next stage.", she started to comb her hair before continuing, "Next our new system Varitang. Defences are in in good shape, too good a shape really. Normally outposts have just enough troops to detect thievery a lot of these outposts in system are more protected than the ancient earth Fort Knox….and on common minerals at that - there must be a history there as it looks like attacks were being launched and outpost security beefed up to defend. Contact some of the other affiliations to see if we can find out why. If not then find me a local researcher."

The administrator nodded and flicked his screen to send an alert off.

"Additionally the mining in system is more invasive that I like. This gives me an idea. Whilst I use my own influence to draw colonists here who match our attitudes if not ethnicity there will always be some who are resistant to change. This allows us to use a more carrot and stick approach. Make an attractive offer for colonists here to move there if they don’t match our world view. No coercion. We have the capacity now to expand possibilities for all people. Those who like the path here won't want go and that don't will.

Moving on. I saw that the Wimble Ambassador has started publishing some trade route information can you assign a trade ship to ascertain how useful that would be"

The administrator pulled up some screens whizzing them backwards and forwards," My Lady there are two options but the best is possibly the 'Iruka' its captain", his head ducked as he checked the screen, 'one Sakura Ogawa has a couple of deliveries to make but these are local and then can make her way over. It will take  two weeks to start though. The only other available freighter is the Kijira and that ship has already been assigned to the Halo trade project"

Head tilted slightly Sumiko mused for a minute, "look at buying a couple more freighters. Light Hulled 3,200 capacity perhaps and inform the Kijira to see what she can make off of that trade list. Final subject the military trials - how are they going."

"Weaponry tests are ongoing though in the last the Tanuki decided to fire torpedo's at the Daidokoro and managed to destroyed a built in jump drive om the process."

She grimaced and shook her head," meh, I thought using essentially non-military ships was a bad idea. Re-assign those back to, what, scouting and exploration please. We will leave the combat tests to the Okami and Taka. Any more to run?"

"Only one. The officers of both ships have reconfigured and want to run a full test with max weaponry one more time. The Captain of the Okami is most insistent. Perhaps as he 'lost' the first trial by quite a margin'

"I remember and my budget remembers how much replacing all the lost gear cost. I do not know how the big military affiliations afford it. "

She thought a bit while putting on a winter kimono," let them. But then move them back to their day job. They are supposed to help deal with pirates and smugglers and they cannot do that while blowing bits off each other. Ensure the results are published as before and organise a celebration to thank the officers and crews.

Sumiko waved her hand slightly and a group of servants entered bearing tea. The Administrator nodded and left.
